Testing the Spirit – 1 John 4:1-11

John teaches the Church the significance of knowing whether the teacher we listen to has the Spirit of God or the Spirit of the Antichrist, or the Spirit of the world. We are not to believe every Spirit but we should test the spirit. Like today, in John’s time, he dealt with false teachers teaching in error. In this epistle, we learn practical ways to avoid the deception of false teachers by testing their doctrine and their love of the brethren.
