Picking up to where we left off prior to the Christmas messages, we go back to Matthew 4:5-11. This section of scripture deals with what the enemy tries to use to cause us to trust in ourselves instead of believing God. Satan already used the lust of the eye, appealing to Christ’s appetite for food after 40 days of fasting. Today, we look at the lust of the flesh, being tempted bodily to jump off a cliff and think we can overcome any obstacle in ourselves and not trusting God. The last temptation is the pride of life as Satan tempts Jesus to fall down and worship him, saying if He does He will have all the Kingdoms at His disposal. In other words, don’t wait for God’s approval, just worship Satan and it’s all yours. We can learn the deception of Satan by observing how Jesus did not fall to the lies.
